Friday's Mega Millions jackpot leaps to 50,000,000; Two second prize tickets sold

The jackpot in the multi-state Mega Millions drawing grew to 50,000,000 for the Friday drawing. The cash value stands at $26.4 million up for grab. None of the tickets sold for Tuesday's 31,000,000 drawing hit five white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball number. The numbers from Tuesday, February 7th, 2023 drawing were 09, 15, 46, 55, 57 and the Mega Ball was 04, Megaplier was 2. The Mega Millions jackpot has been growing for 971 draws since Friday, October 4th, 2013.One lucky winner from Maryland won the $189 million top prize in Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 drawing.
Although there was no jackpot winner Tuesday evening, Mega Millions had some big winners. There were two second prize winners from Tuesday night's drawing, matching the first five white ball numbers but not the Mega Ball number. The two second prize winning ticket(s) sold in IL,MO will collect a million dollar cash each.
Additional prizes won Tuesday night included 11 tickets that matched four white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Additional prizes won Tuesday evening included 206 tickets that matched 4 lotto numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 595 tickets that matched 3 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $200.
With 9 prize tiers, there were a total of 1,016,742 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, February 7th, 2023 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium associated with 44 state lotteries. It holds the record highest jackpot of $656 million in U.S. lottery history. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Mega Millions uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay $1 extra to purchase the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times but not grand prize. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot starts at $40,000,000. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly payments. Winners can choose one lump sum cash payout instead.
Contrary to other Mega Millions states, all the 9 prize levels of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a set amount. This leads to different prize amounts for equivalent winning tickets sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other forty three jurisdictons. Such as, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery doesn't offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
