Mega Millions jackpot goes to $130 million Friday, January 24th, 2020; 1 second prize ticket sold

The grand prize in America's favorite Mega Millions lottery is on the move. Because nobody correctly hit all 6 numbers in Tuesday's drawing, the jackpot will grow to $130 million! The cash option stands at a projected $88.1 million up for grab. The numbers drawn Tuesday night, January 21st, 2020 were 16, 18, 29, 31, 37 and the Mega Ball was 08, Megaplier was 3.
While the grand prize was not hit Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There was only one 2nd prize winner from Tuesday night's drawing, matching all five numbers except the Mega Ball number. The 1 second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in will collect $1,000,000 cash each.
Other prizes won Tuesday night included 15 tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Additional prizes won Tuesday night included 360 tickets that matched four white numbers and won $500. There were 984 tickets that matched 3 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With nine different prize levels, there were 1,181,768 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, January 21st, 2020 drawing.
Mega Millions is an U.S. popular lottery game offered in 44 lottery jurisdictions as a pari-mutuel jackpot game. Approximately 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back towards the players through prize winnings. Around 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operation expenses. Around 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member states. To play, pick 5 numbers from 1 to 70 and select one Mega Ball number from a set of 25. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize is 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners may choose one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
