Mega Millions jackpot climbs to $378 million; Three second prize tickets sold

The multi-state Mega Millions lottery jackpot has grew to an estimated $378 million dollars after there was no jackpot winner in Tuesday's drawing. The lump-sum cash payout stands at a projected $297.6 million up for grab. The numbers drawn Tuesday night, June 2nd, 2020 were 09, 20, 23, 26, 29 and the Mega Ball was 08, Megaplier was 3. There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past 691 draws since Friday, October 4th, 2013.One lucky player from Maryland won the $189 million top prize in Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 drawing.
Even though there was no grand prize winner Tuesday evening, Mega Millions had some big winners. There were three second prize winning tickets from Tuesday night's drawing, matching the first five lotto numbers except the Mega Ball number. The three second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in won $1,000,000 cash each.
Other prizes won Tuesday night included 45 tickets that matched 4 white numbers together with Mega Ball and won $10,000. Other winners Tuesday evening included 837 tickets that matched four white ball numbers and won $500. There were 2145 tickets that matched three white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With nine prize levels, there were a total of 2,182,352 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020 drawing.
Mega Millions lottery can be played in 43 states and D.C. It holds the record biggest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. To play Mega Millions, select 5 numbers from a set of 70 then select one Mega Ball number from 1 to 25. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the original prizes 2 to 5 times but not grand prize. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot is $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly payments. Winners can select one-time lump sum cash payout option instead.
Not like other Mega Millions states, all the 9 prize tiers of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a fixed amount. This causes different prize amounts for equivalent winning tickets sold in California when compared to those sold in other forty three states. By way of example, the second Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery doesn't offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
