Mega Millions jackpot increases to 112,000,000 Tuesday, May 17th, 2022; 1 second prize ticket sold

The jackpot in the Mega Millions multistate lottery game continues increasing and will be up to 112,000,000 for the next drawing on Tuesday. The cash value will be an estimated $64.9 million. The amount was rolled over since nobody matched all 6 winning numbers to win the $99 million jackpot Friday night. The winning numbers from Friday night, May 13th, 2022 were 11-41-43-44-65 and the Mega Ball was 13, Megaplier was 3. No one won the Mega Millions jackpot in the past 894 draws since Friday, October 4th, 2013.The last jackpot was won by one lucky ticket sold in Maryland, matched all six numbers for a $189 million top prize.
Even though the grand prize was not awarded Friday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There was only one lucky player that matched the first five white ball numbers and won the second prize. The 1 lucky ticket(s) purchased in , each won one million dollar cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Additional prizes won Friday evening included 9 tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Other prizes won Friday night included 256 tickets that matched four white ball numbers and won $500. There were 754 tickets that correctly matched 3 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and also won $200.

Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. Mega Millions uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the original prizes 2 to 5 times except jackpot. In contrast to other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a set value. This causes different amounts of prize for equivalent winning tickets sold in California when compared to those sold in other jurisdictons. One example is, the second Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery does not have Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
