No jackpot winning ticket sold last night. Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot rolls up to $109 million

The jackpot in America's favorite Mega Millions lottery is on the move. Since no player correctly matched all 5 white ball numbers and the Mega Millions number in Friday's drawing, the jackpot will climb to $109 million! The lump-sum cash payout stands at a projected $83.2 million. The winning numbers from Friday night, October 23rd, 2020 were 18, 34, 44, 60, 69 with Mega Ball 22 and Megaplier x2.
Though the grand prize was not awarded Friday evening, some people still walked away with huge pile of cash. 10 third prize winning tickets were sold nationwide. Among them, 10 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000.
Also, 225 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. 595 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With 9 different ways to win, there were a total of 965,078 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Friday, October 23rd, 2020 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. It holds the record highest jackpot of $656 million in United States lottery history. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. To play Mega Millions, select 5 numbers from 1 to 70 and select 1 Mega Ball number from a set of 25. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier, which multiplies the winnings 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The odds of winning is about 1 to 14. The odds of winning Mega Millions jackpot are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize starts at $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners may select one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
Unlike other Mega Millions participants, all the nine prize tiers of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a set amount. This leads to different amounts of prize for equivalent winning tickets sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other jurisdictons. By way of example, the second Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery doesn't offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
