Powerball jackpot jumps to 117,000,000 Saturday; 1 player matched the first five numbers

With no winner in the last drawing, the Powerball lottery jackpot will be worth a projected 117,000,000 (cash option $68.4 million) the next time the multistate lottery is drawn on Saturday. The amount rolled over since no player matched all six winning numbers to win the 101,000,000 grand prize Wednesday night. The numbers drawn Wednesday night, May 18th, 2022 were 40, 41, 58, 64, 65 and Powerball was 17. No one won the Powerball jackpot in the past 136 draws since Wednesday, June 16th, 2021. One lucky winner from walked away with $31.00 million top prize in Saturday, June 12th, 2021 drawing.

Although there was no grand prize winner Wednesday evening, some players still walked away with huge pile of cash. There was a single ticket that matched all 5 white ball numbers and won the 2nd prize. The one second prize ticket(s) from Ohio matched all 5 white ball numbers and also purchased Power Play, which doubled the prize to 2 million dollar cash win!

Other major winners Wednesday evening included 6 tickets that matched four white ball numbers as well as the Powerball and won $10,000. 1 additional tickets at this prize level were also wisely bought with the Power Play option that multiplied winnings 4 times to $40,000 cash!

With 9 different prize tiers, the Wednesday night's drawing created 385,442 winning tickets across the nation with a total amount of $0 prizes.

Powerball game is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings occur every Wednesday and Saturday at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to spend $1 extra to purchase the Power Play, which increases the original prizes but not grand prize. The minimum Powerball jackpot is $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 graduated payments. Winners can choose one-time lump sum cash payout instead.
