Friday's Mega Millions jackpot rises to 131,000,000; One ticket matched the first 5 numbers

There has been another roll-over in the jackpot for the multistate Mega Millions game - to 131,000,000. The cash option stands at $74.9 million up for grab. The grand prize grew because no player hit all 6 winning numbers from Tuesday night's 112,000,000 drawing. The winning numbers from Tuesday, May 17th, 2022 drawing were 07, 21, 24, 41, 65 with Mega Ball number 24 and Megaplier x4. There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past 895 draws since Friday, October 4th, 2013.A single lucky winner from Maryland won the $189 million jackpot in Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 drawing.
Although there was no jackpot winner Tuesday evening, some players still walked away with big money. There was only one ticket that matched the first 5 numbers and won the 2nd prize. The one lucky ticket(s) sold in , each won one million dollar cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
In addition, 9 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. The odds of matching all six Mega Millions numbers are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot starts at $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners can select one time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
Compared with other Mega Millions participants, all the 9 prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, as opposed to non-jackpot prize having a set amount. This causes different amounts of prize for equivalent winners sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other forty three states. For example, the second Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery does not offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
