Mega Millions jackpot breaks to $40 million Tuesday, February 3rd, 2015; 2 tickets matched the first 5 numbers

The jackpot in America's favorite Mega Millions lottery game continues to climb exciting players all across the country. Since no player correctly hit all six numbers in Tuesday's drawing the grand prize will jump to a projected $40 million! The cash value will be a projected $27.3 million up for grab. The numbers from Friday night, January 30th, 2015 were 18, 31, 39, 45, 55 and the Mega Ball was 06, Megaplier was 5.
Though the grand prize was not awarded Friday evening, Mega Millions had some big winners. There were 2 lucky tickets matched the first 5 white ball numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the second prize. The 2 lucky ticket(s) bought in New Jersey(1) and Ohio(1), each won $250,000 cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Other prizes won Friday evening included 17 tickets that matched four white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Additional prizes won Friday night included 279 tickets that matched 4 lotto numbers and won $150. There were 1443 tickets that correctly matched 3 white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and also won $150.

Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier, which multiplies the original prizes 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The chances of winning is about 1 to 14. The chances of winning Mega Millions jackpot are about 1 in 258 million. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize is 12 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 26 equal yearly payments. Winners can select one lump sum cash payout instead.
Not like other Mega Millions participants, all the 9 prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, rather than non-jackpot prize having a fixed value. This leads to different amounts of prize for equivalent winners sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other forty three Mega Millions states. By way of example, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is $250,000 could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery does not have Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
