No one matched all 6 numbers last night. Mega Millions jackpot rises to $32 million Tuesday night

The Mega Millions multi-state lottery jackpot built to $32 million (cash option $25.5 million) Tuesday night when there were no jackpot winning tickets in the $24 million drawing, lottery officials said. The numbers drawn Friday night, September 25th, 2020 were 20-36-37-48-67 and the Mega Ball was 16, Megaplier was 2.
Even though there was no grand prize winner Friday evening, Mega Millions had some huge winners. 2 third prize winning tickets were sold nationwide. These included 2 tickets that matched 4 white numbers together with Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Additional prizes won Friday night included 183 tickets that matched 4 lotto numbers and won $500. 476 tickets matched 3 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With 9 different ways to win, there were 760,426 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Friday, September 25th, 2020 drawing.
Mega Millions game is played in 43 states and Washington DC. It holds the record largest jackpot of $656 million in U.S. lottery history. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players through prizes. Roughly 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. Approximately 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating lottery states. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier option, which multiplies the prizes 2 to 5 times but not grand prize. The chances of winning any prizes is about 1 to 14. The chances of winning Mega Millions grand prize are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot starts at 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners may choose one lump-sum cash payout option instead.
Not like other Mega Millions states, all the 9 prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a fixed amount. This leads to different prize amounts for equivalent winning tickets sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other 43 jurisdictons. For instance, the second Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery doesn't offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
