Mega Millions jackpot breaks to $201 million Friday; One player won the second prize

The lottery official announced that the Tuesday, April 6th, 2021, Mega Millions drawing resulted in a roll-over, producing an $201 million grand prize for the next drawing Friday. The lump-sum cash payout stands at $135.9 million. The winning numbers from Tuesday night, April 6th, 2021 were 01, 19, 20, 32, 42 with Mega Ball 17 and Megaplier 3.
Though the grand prize was not awarded Tuesday evening, some people still walked away with large winnings. There was a sole lucky winner matched all 5 white ball numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the 2nd prize. The one second prize winning ticket(s) bought in won $1,000,000 cash each.
Additional prizes won Tuesday evening included 19 tickets that matched 4 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Other prizes won Tuesday night included 401 tickets that matched 4 white numbers and won $500. 984 tickets matched 3 of the 5 lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With 9 prize tiers, there were a total of 1,411,222 winning tickets sold across the nation in the Tuesday, April 6th, 2021 drawing.

Not like other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, as opposed to non-jackpot prize having a set value. This causes different prize amounts for equivalent winning tickets sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other jurisdictons. As an example, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery does not have Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
