The jackpot in the multi-state Mega Millions drawing moved to $113,000,000 for the Friday drawing. The cash option will be a projected $$48.3 million. None of the tickets sold for Tuesday's $100,000,000 drawing hit five lotto numbers and the Mega Ball number. The winning numbers from Tuesday, August 18th, 2026 drawing were 05, 19, 30, 38, 59 and the Mega Ball was 12, Megaplier was .
Although the grand prize was not awarded Tuesday evening, some players still walked away with huge pile of cash. 4 third prize winning tickets were sold nationwide. These included 4 tickets that matched 4 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Also, 120 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 460 tickets that matched 3 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $200.
With nine different prize levels, there were a total of 478,934 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Tuesday, August 18th, 2026 drawing.
Mega Millions is an U.S. popular lottery game can be played in 44 participating states as a pari-mutuel jackpot game. It holds the record highest jackpot of $656 million in North American lottery history. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend 1 extra dollar to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the prizes 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The overall chances of winning is about 1 to 14. The odds of winning Mega Millions grand prize are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot starts at $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly payments. Winners can choose one lump-sum cash payout instead.
Contrary to other Mega Millions participants, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, rather than non-jackpot prize having a fixed value. This causes different prize amounts for equivalent winners sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other states. One example is, the second Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery doesn't offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
