The jackpot for Friday's Mega Millions drawing soars to $604,000,000

The Mega Millions game jackpot has been pumped up to an estimated $604,000,000 (cash value $$266.3 million) for the next drawing in the multistate lottery game Friday night. The grand prize amount has been rolled over because no one matched all six numbers to take the $576,000,000 jackpot Tuesday night. The numbers from Tuesday night, July 7th, 2026 were 02, 31, 35, 36, 63 with Mega Ball number 12 and Megaplier .
Even though the jackpot was not hit Tuesday evening, some people still walked away with huge pile of cash. 6 third prize winning tickets were sold nationwide. These included 6 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Other prizes won Tuesday night included 172 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 549 tickets that matched 3 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $200.
With nine different prize levels, there were a total of 736,134 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Tuesday, July 7th, 2026 drawing.
Mega Millions lottery is played in 43 states and D.C. It holds the record largest jackpot in North American lottery history. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back towards the players through prize winnings. About 15% goes to commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. Approximately 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Mega Millions uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay $1 extra to purchase the Megaplier, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot starts at $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners may choose one-time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
In contrast to other Mega Millions states, all the 9 prize levels of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, rather than non-jackpot prize having a fixed value. This leads to different amounts of prize for equivalent winners sold in California when compared to those sold in other 43 Mega Millions states. By way of example, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery doesn't have Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
