Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot goes to $61,000,000; One player matched the first five numbers

Nobody won Friday night's Mega Millions game drawing, worth $47,000,000, bringing the estimated jackpot on Tuesday to $61,000,000. The cash option will be an estimated $$29.3 million up for grab. The winning numbers drawn Friday night, June 14th, 2024 were 01, 25, 26, 31, 65 and the Mega Ball was 02, Megaplier was 3.
Although the grand prize was not awarded Friday evening, Mega Millions had some huge winners. There was a sole lucky winner matched the first five white ball numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the second prize. The one lucky ticket(s) bought in NJ, each won $1,000,000 cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Other prizes won Friday night included 6 tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000. In addition, 196 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 547 tickets that matched 3 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $200.
With 9 prize levels, there were 825,708 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Friday, June 14th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium of 44 state lotteries. It holds the record highest jackpot in North American lottery history. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Mega Millions uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix to randomly choose winning numbers. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The overall chances of winning is about 1 to 14. The odds of winning Mega Millions grand prize are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize starts at $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners can select one time lump sum cash payout option instead.
Not like other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, rather than non-jackpot prize having a set amount. This causes different prize amounts for equivalent winning tickets sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other 43 jurisdictons. As an example, the second Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery does not have Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
