The jackpot for Friday's Mega Millions drawing skyrockets to $452,000,000

Friday's Mega Millions game jackpot grew to $452,000,000, since no player hit all six numbers drawn Tuesday night. The cash value for Friday will be an estimated $$201 million up for grab. Tuesday's $430,000,000 is the total grand prize amount - before taxes - if the prize is taken in annual installments. The numbers from Tuesday, June 16th, 2026 drawing were 12-20-53-67-70 with Mega Ball number 12 and Megaplier x. Nobody won the Mega Millions grand prize in the past 128 draws since Friday, March 28th, 2025.The last jackpot was won by a lucky ticket sold in IL, matched all six numbers for a $344 million top prize.
Even though the jackpot was not awarded Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were a total of 1 3rd prize lucky winners. These included 1 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Also, 156 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. 472 tickets matched 3 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With nine prize levels, there were 614,024 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, June 16th, 2026 drawing.
Mega Millions is an U.S. popular lottery game offered in 44 participating states as a shared jackpot game. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players in prizes. Around 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. About 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating states. Mega Millions drawings are held 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. To play Mega Millions, pick 5 numbers from a set of 70 and choose one Mega Ball number from a set of 25. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot starts at $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners may choose one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
Compared with other Mega Millions participants, all the 9 prize levels of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, as opposed to non-jackpot prize having a set amount. This leads to different prize amounts for equivalent winning tickets sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other forty three states. One example is, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery doesn't offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
