Mega Millions jackpot breaks to $152 million Tuesday; 2 second prize tickets sold

Tuesday's Mega Millions lottery grand prize jumped to $152 million, since no player hit all 6 numbers drawn Friday night. The cash option for Tuesday will be a projected $102.2 million up for grab. Friday's $137 million is the total payout - before taxes - if the prize is taken in annual installments. The winning numbers from Friday, March 26th, 2021 drawing were 04, 25, 37, 46, 67 with Mega Ball 15 and Megaplier 3. The Mega Millions jackpot has been rolling over for 776 draws since Friday, October 4th, 2013.The last jackpot was won by a lucky ticket sold in Maryland, matched all six numbers for a $189 million top prize.
While there was no grand prize winner Friday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were 2 second prize winners from Friday night's Mega Millions drawing, matching all five lotto numbers but not the Mega Ball number. The 2 second prize winning ticket(s) sold in won a million dollar cash each.
Other major winners Friday evening included 10 tickets that matched four white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Also, 353 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Mega Millions is a consortium associated with 44 state lotteries. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back towards the players through prize winnings. Not like other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, as opposed to non-jackpot prize having a fixed value. This causes different prize amounts for equivalent winners sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other forty three Mega Millions states. As an example, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery does not have Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
