Friday's Mega Millions jackpot increases to $453,000,000; 1 ticket won the second prize

The lottery official announced that the Tuesday, May 21st, 2024, Mega Millions drawing resulted in a roll-over, producing an $453,000,000 jackpot for the next drawing Friday. The cash option will be an estimated $$211.3 million up for grab. The numbers from Tuesday, May 21st, 2024 drawing were 02-05-08-28-69 with Mega Ball number 14 and Megaplier X2. The Mega Millions jackpot has been rolling over for sixteen draws since Friday, March 29th, 2024.The last jackpot was won by a lucky ticket sold in NJ, matched all six numbers for a $0 million top prize.
Even though the grand prize was not awarded Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There was a sole 2nd prize winning ticket from Tuesday night's Mega Millions drawing, matching all five white ball numbers but not the Mega Ball number. The 1 second prize winning ticket(s) sold in CA will collect a million dollar cash each.
Additional major winners Tuesday evening included 23 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Contrary to other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, as opposed to non-jackpot prize having a set amount. This results in different prize amounts for equivalent winners sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other forty three lotteries.
