Mega Millions jackpot rolls up to $62,000,000 Tuesday night; Two second prize tickets sold

There has been another carry over in the jackpot for the multistate Mega Millions game - to $62,000,000. The cash value stands at $$31 million. The grand prize grew since no player matched all six numbers from Friday night's $47,000,000 drawing. The numbers from Friday, September 20th, 2024 drawing were 20, 21, 40, 49, 55 and the Mega Ball was 11, Megaplier was 3.
Though the jackpot was not hit Friday evening, Mega Millions had some big winners. There were two 2nd prize winners from Friday night's Mega Millions drawing, matching all five numbers but not the Mega Ball number. The two second prize winning ticket(s) bought in CA,NJ won $1,000,000 cash each.
In addition, 7 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Other prizes won Friday night included 163 tickets that matched four white numbers and won $500. There were 523 tickets that matched 3 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With nine prize tiers, there were a total of 903,065 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Friday, September 20th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. The odds of winning is about 1 to 14. The chances of winning Mega Millions jackpot are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize starts at $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners can select one-time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
As opposed to other Mega Millions participants, all the nine prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a set value. This results in different amounts of prize for equivalent winners sold in California when compared to those sold in other 43 states. For instance, the second Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery doesn't have Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
