Saturday's Powerball jackpot rises to $157 million; Two tickets won the second prize

The MUSL lottery official announced that the Wednesday, May 5th, 2021, POWERBALL's drawing resulted in a roll-over, creating a $157 million grand prize for the next drawing Saturday. The lump-sum cash payout stands at a projected $108.2 million up for grab. The winning numbers drawn Wednesday night, May 5th, 2021 were 16, 23, 28, 40, 63 and Powerball number was 01. No one won the Powerball grand prize in the past 128 draws since Saturday, February 15th, 2020. A single lucky winner from Michigan walked away with $70.00 million grand prize in Wednesday, February 12th, 2020 drawing.
While there was no jackpot winner Wednesday evening, some players still walked away with big money. There were two tickets that matched the first five numbers and won the second prize. The two lucky ticket(s) purchased in Florida(1) and Michigan(1), each won $1 million cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Other prizes won Wednesday evening included 8 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers as well as the Powerball and won $10,000. There were 3 tickets matched 4+1 with Power Play option, multiplying the prizes by 4 for a total win of $40,000 each! Additional prizes won Wednesday night included 316 tickets that matched 4 white numbers and won $100. 81 additional tickets of this prize level were also wisely bought with the Power Play option that doubled the prize to $200 cash! There were 676 tickets that matched three white ball numbers as well as the Powerball and also won $100. 187 additional players not just matched 3+1, but also purchased the Power Play option, doulbled the winnings to $200 cash each ticket.
With nine ways to win, the Wednesday night's drawing generated 525,588 winning tickets across U.S. with a total amount of $0 prizes.
America's favorite Powerball game is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Each play costs $2.
