Wednesday's Powerball jackpot climbs to $143,000,000; One player won the second prize

The Powerball multi-state lottery grand prize built to $143,000,000 (cash value $$66.8 million) Wednesday night when there were no jackpot winning tickets in the $131,000,000 drawing, lottery officials said. The numbers from Monday night, May 27th, 2024 were 09-30-39-49-59 and Powerball was 21.

Even though there was no grand prize winner Monday evening, Powerball had some huge winners. There was a sole lucky ticket correctly matched all 5 white ball numbers but missed Powerball number, which won the 2nd prize. The one second prize winning ticket(s) sold in NY won 1 million dollar cash.

Additional major winners Monday evening included 1 tickets that matched four white ball numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. 1 additional players not only matched 4+1, but in addition bought the Power Play option, multiplying the winnings by 4 for a total win of $40,000 each! Other prizes won Monday night included 162 tickets that matched 4 white numbers and won $100. 68 additional tickets at this prize level were also wisely purchased with the Power Play option that doubled winnings to $200 cash! There were 321 tickets that matched three white ball numbers plus the Powerball and also won $100. 128 additional players not just matched 3+1, and also bought the Power Play option, doulbled the winnings to $200 cash each ticket.

With 9 prize levels, the Monday night's drawing produced 296,176 winning tickets across the nation with a total amount of $0 prizes.

America's favorite Powerball is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Powerball uses a 5/69 (white balls) + 1/26 (Powerballs) matrix to randomly choose winning numbers. The minimum Powerball grand prize starts at $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 yearly increment installments. Winners can select one lump sum cash payout option instead.
